Roy Lichtenstein - The Melody Haunts My Reverie - Postcard

Invitation card signed in original by Roy Lichtenstein, The Melody Haunts My Reverie features the same subject as the homonymous 1965 screenprint.

It is a quote from the jazz song "Stardust" by Hoagy Carmichael (lyrics by Mitchell Parish) and shows a woman singing the words of the title. The screenprint version of this work was created for the portfolio "11 Pop Artists", published by Original Editions in New York. 33 works by 11 different artists in an edition of 200 made up the portfolio. Lichtenstein's other works featured in this collection are Sweet Dreams, Baby! and Moonscape.

The Melody Haunts My Reverie is an invitation card: these are the postcards that the artist used to send to friends and acquaintances as invitations to his exhibitions, signing them in original. The work measures 33x43 cm.
