Art in the workplace: why decorating your office with art is an investment (and even tax-deductible)

When we think of business investments, our minds usually go to machinery, technology, training, or marketing. Few consider art in the workplace as a strategic asset.

Yet furnishing offices and workspaces with paintings, sculptures, and photographs is not just an aesthetic choice: it is an investment that generates benefits for brand image, employee well-being, and even at the fiscal level.

Art in the workplace: tax advantages and deductibility

Not everyone knows this, but in Italy art in the workplace is tax-deductible. Paintings, sculptures, and artworks displayed in offices can be classified as representation expenses, i.e., costs incurred to strengthen the company’s image and relationships with clients and stakeholders.

According to art. 108, paragraph 2 of the TUIR and the Ministerial Decree of November 19, 2008, these expenses are deductible within a ceiling calculated on revenues:

  • up to €10 million → 1.5%
  • from €10 to €50 million → 0.6%
  • over €50 million → 0.4%

The percentages are not high, but they remain a real incentive. And they add up to the many long-term benefits of introducing art in the office.

Why decorate your office with art

Integrating art into workspaces is not just about decoration: it is about communicating values, inspiring people, and strengthening brand identity.

  • Asset value: unlike traditional furniture, an artwork does not depreciate; in fact, it often maintains or increases in value.
  • Brand identity: welcoming clients and partners in an art-enriched environment communicates prestige, attention to detail, and cultural vision.
  • Motivation and well-being: studies show that stimulating, beautiful environments boost creativity and productivity.
  • Differentiation: in a competitive market, art is a unique element that makes a company stand out.

Art in the office is more than furniture: it is a language that tells the world who you are and how you want to be perceived.

Case Study: Samnium Innovation Hub

A concrete example is the Samnium Innovation Hub (S.I.H.), created by Dimensione srl in Molise. The goal was to design an innovative workplace, capable of stimulating creativity and collaboration.

For the inauguration, Deodato Group curated the artistic setup with pop and street art by internationally renowned artists such as PichiAvo, Mr. Brainwash, Mr. Savethewall, and Daniele Fortuna.

The result? Offices transformed into an identity-driven ecosystem, where art and architecture interact harmoniously. Functional and design-oriented spaces that transmit energy, modernity, and prestige.

Art in the office: a strategic investment

Investing in art in the workplace means:

  • strengthening brand reputation and image,
  • improving the quality and well-being of work environments,
  • increasing the overall value of the company,
  • benefiting from a concrete tax advantage.

Have you ever thought about how art could tell the story of your company?

  • What values would you communicate to clients through artworks in your spaces?
  • How would your employees’ motivation improve in a more inspiring workplace?
  • How much would you gain in terms of brand perception?

Today, art is no longer a luxury: it is a strategic tool for communication and business growth. And with the possibility of making it (partially) deductible, it becomes an even smarter investment.
