Thank you!
From June 3 to August 31, 2025, Tomoko Nagao's art takes center stage with the exhibition “Angels: TOMOKO NAGAO Art Exhibition”, curated by FunDesign.tv and hosted on the third floor of the prestigious SKM Diamond Tower in Taipei.
An unmissable opportunity to discover the iconic works of the Japanese artist and, for the first time ever, the poetic sculptures from the new “Angel Series”.
The exhibition revolves around eight unique sculptures, each featuring vibrant colors and profound meanings inspired by natural elements and ecosystems. The works “Sunshine,” “Raining Drop,” “Emerald Sea,” and “Moon” celebrate natural phenomena, while “Forest,” “Pink Flower,” “Yellow Leaf,” and “Rose” evoke biodiversity and organic environments.
Each sculpture is produced in a limited edition of just ten hand-numbered pieces, turning the angels into precious symbols of the connection between art and nature.
Made of polyresin and finished with glossy lacquers, these sculptures reflect light and change appearance depending on their surroundings, becoming luminous focal points within the exhibition space.
With this new series, Tomoko Nagao deepens her artistic language: from the macro dimension of pop culture icons, she shifts to a more intimate reflection on the natural microcosm.
The angels thus become silent guardians of emotion, symbols of protection, and invitations to rediscover the lost harmony between humanity and nature—especially within the contemporary urban environment.
Not only sculptures: the exhibition also features new oil paintings and design objects, such as washi tape and collectible items, bringing a touch of “angelic” spirit into everyday life.
Born in Nagoya in 1976, Tomoko Nagao has lived and worked in Milan since 2006. After studying at Saga Art College in Kyoto and Bsemi Schooling System in Yokohama, she moved to London, earning a Master’s degree in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art & Design in 2003.
Her artistic career officially began in 1998 with a solo exhibition in Tokyo, followed in 1999 by the prestigious Canon Prize for a photographic work.
Since moving to Italy, Tomoko has focused on painting and sculpture, developing a Neo-Pop language that blends East and West, classical iconography, and contemporary culture.
Among her most notable achievements is her participation in “Botticelli Reimagined”, an international exhibition organized by the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London in 2016.
