Andy Warhol Flowers 11.70 - After the Edition, Original Signed Silkscreen Print by the master of Pop Art on Deodato Arte.

Andy Warhol, Flowers 11.70 - After the Edition - Signed Silkscreen Print

The beautiful silkscreen print by Andy Warhol, Flowers 11.70 - After the Edition depicts the four iconic flowers of the pop artist. They are in orange, yellow and light blue on a pink background.

The work is part of the series "After the Edition" created by the artist's official print shop, Sunday B. Morning without Warhol consent, and afterward signed by the artist.

The work is identical - in colors and subjects - to the original limited edition of 250 numbered on the back. The main difference is that at first Warhol does not officially recognize the series. However, Warhol, having a great sense of irony but, above all, of business, eventually decides to sign the back of some of the works "This is not by me, Andy Warhol", "I didn't make it, Andy Warhol".

With Flowers Andy Warhol temporarily distances himself from portraits of American stars and divas to represent a subject from the natural world: a hibiscus flower. Pop Art master Andy Warhol was inspired by a photograph published in the magazine "Modern Photography" in 1964. From this moment onwards, the artist produces his famous silkscreen prints.

Warhol's initial version of this work was exhibited for the first time at Leo Castelli Gallery in New York in 1964; in the following years Warhol created different versions of this subject.

Flowers: Andy Warhol and the Factory

The Flowers are among the works made in Andy Warhol's famous Factory and they are the result of a mix of photography, screen printing and painting, made by different hands.

Warhol thus overturns the idea of uniqueness of the artwork: the expressive power of his works lies in the repetitiveness of the subject.

This Flowers version is dated 1970 and it is signed in original on the back with the famous sentence "this is not by me, Andy Warhol"
