Jacopo Di Cera joins the Deodato Arte family

Milky Way: where nature, chemistry, and imagination converge

Deodato Arte is pleased to welcome Jacopo Di Cera, an Italian photographer and digital artist who blends aesthetics with social awareness through a powerful and poetic visual language.

On October 15, 2025, the gallery will exclusively present selected works from his series Milky Way, one of the artist’s most thought-provoking and symbolic projects.

In Milky Way, Di Cera explores one of Italy’s most ambiguous and unsettling landscapes: the White Beaches of Rosignano Solvay, where the natural light of the Mediterranean merges with the artificial glow generated by the industrial discharges of the Solvay factory.
Here, nature and chemistry intertwine until they lose their boundaries, creating a non-place suspended between fascination and unease.

The milky waters and white sand tell the story of a “false” yet irresistible beauty — a paradise built from human error, a metaphor for our age of contradictions.

The collection includes both photographs and videos:

  • the static images capture the illusion of this surreal scenario;
  • the infinite-loop videos, part of the Infinity project, expand the perception of time, transforming the experience into a continuous, timeless flow.

In this “phygital” dimension, the artwork exists simultaneously in real and digital space, inviting the viewer to lose themselves in a sea that no longer belongs to time but to imagination.

Under Di Cera’s gaze, Rosignano becomes a visual metaphor for modernity — a place where humankind, despite knowing the illusion, keeps diving in. It is the representation of an impossible beauty, where matter dissolves into light and truth blurs with its reflected image.

About Jacopo Di Cera

Jacopo Di Cera (Milan, 1981) is an Italian photographer and digital artist who merges aesthetics and social consciousness. After a successful career in communication, he moved to Rome to study with international masters of photography, eventually founding the Photomaterism movement — transforming matter into a visual and narrative language.

In 2010, he won the National Geographic International Photography Contest, and in 2016 gained global recognition with Fino alla Fine del Mare, a project on migration inspired by the abandoned boats of Lampedusa. The work reached international acclaim and was exhibited at Paris Photo, MIA Photo Fair Milan, PAN – Palazzo delle Arti Napoli, Les Rencontres de la Photographie Arles, Paratissima Torino, and Atelier Photo Geneva.

Di Cera has exhibited in major contemporary art venues, including the Museum of Rome in Trastevere, PAN Naples, Paris Photo, and the Venice Biennale (2017), where he presented a project dedicated to Edipo Re, the iconic boat of Pier Paolo Pasolini.

Continuously driven by innovation, he explores new visual languages — from aerial photography to the Sospesi series, a poetic portrait of Italy from above — and has embraced the digital and phygital art world, exhibiting in Rome, Milan, Miami, New York, Paris, and Dubai.

In 2024, he represented Italy at Art Dubai Fair, and in 2025 he will present Retreat, the main installation of the fair dedicated to climate change.

Today, his works — both physical and digital — are part of major public and private collections and continue to be showcased in leading international museums and galleries.
